Twittering offline at Twestival

It’s the day after the night of the Twestival when Tweeters (Twitter users) finally met in the real world. In more than 200 cities across the globe thousands of people, known only by their Twitter @ identities, crammed into venues to “Tweet, Meet, and Give”.

Representing Kaizo, myself and Sarah Mayer, attended the London Twestival, and armed with an exclusive Flip Mino HD not yet available in the UK (watch this space for news of its arrival), embarked on a night of glitz, glamour and raffle tickets.

Having arrived fashionably early, we spent our first hour making Twitter bird badges with Jemima Kiss, Guardian Tech blogger, and The Make Lounge.

After perfecting our beautiful creations we were lucky enough to bump into Pete Cashmore, Editor and Creator of Mashable.com. Pete was happy to say a few words about Twitter and social media in general. For instance, the way Mashable is changing its focus on social networking to one of social media, as a result of the way the industry has developed. You can watch the full interview below.

News arrived that our colleague Alex Myers had managed to get himself a ticket to the San Francisco Twestival – making it a truly global event for Kaizo! We should have a full report from him when he returns.

There was certainly a sense of Twitter reaching a tipping point amongst our fellow Twestival-goers with a recent surge in Twitter membership following endorsements from celebrities such as Jonathan Ross, Demi Moore and, erm, Noel Edmonds.

Ultimately though, Twestival is all about the money. Money for charity. And plenty of it exchanged hands last night via an auction, drinks and raffle tickets in aid of Charity: Water.

Oh and there was plenty of merrymaking and talking in more than 140 characters (Twitter’s limit). Judge for yourself from the video and why not search for the word Twangover on Twitter today?
